February Playlist

You Should Listen To:

Dark Hills- Day of Fire

Why: I just discovered this band, like 2 nights ago!  It’s a pretty deep song, but I really like the feel of it.  Day of Fire is a Christian band that’s been around for a while.  They have a real great sound that doesn’t sound overused for the genre.

Sinister Kid- The Black Keys

Why: This is one of those songs that just gets stuck in your head.  I’ve been listening to The Black Keys since 8th grade, and I don’t think I’ve ever met someone that loves them as much as I do.  Even though this song is great, I prefer the live version.

Home Sweet Home- Stacy Wilde

Why: A couple weeks ago, season 3 of “Justified” on FX premiered, that’s how I found this.  I couldn’t find the song on Youtube, and I updated my itunes just so I could buy it!

Stray Cat Strut- The Stray Cats

Why: Who doesn’t love some good rockabilly?  They just don’t make tunes like this anymore!

Broken Leaf- Tangiers

Why:  This is a Canadian band that I can’t quite explain.  They aren’t punk but they aren’t just rock!  I guess that makes them “indie.”  Since they aren’t mainstream I had a hard time finding them.  But the song is $0.99 on itunes!  Go ahead, check it out!

Man Named Truth- Monsters of Folk

Why:  My brother got me into this band, so I owe him a thank-you.  There’s this story throughout this song, and if you listen, the song is quite dark.  You’ll have have to figure it out yourself!  The band is made up of several different artists.  If you like My Morning Jacket, Bright Eyes, or She & Him; then I know you’ll love these guys.  Hint Hint.
